StrikeForce Miami: Betting lines and odds

The current Sportsbooks odds have Zaromskis as a pretty solid underdog at +200 odds to -260 for Diaz, a line based no doubt in big part to Diaz’s status as a well-known fighter who has a lot of experience in big TV and PPV fights in his career, many times as the MMA betting favorite. Diaz is a disciple of Cesar Gracie’s style of jiu-jitsu and he has the long limbs and submission game to take just about anyone in the Strikeforce welterweight division out.
But Diaz usually prefers to strike; in fact, he likes punching so much that he often throws more punches than just about anyone else in MMA today.
Diaz (20-7 record) peppers his opponents with short punches that often don’t have a lot of power behind them, but every once in a while he’ll mix things up and catch opponents with a big shot like in his fight with Frank Shamrock, which Diaz won by TKO after Shamrock talked smack about Diaz having “no power in his punches.”
Zaromskis is playing the pre-fight hype game the right way, however, as “The Whitemare” hasn’t said much going into the fight. He is well-known among hardcore MMA fans for his penchant for the Street Fighter video game Akuma and his ability to throw the kinds of devastating high kicks we haven’t seen since Mirko Cro Cop was in his prime.
In fact, his last three wins have come via head kick and the first two came on the same night during the DREAM Welterweight Tournament.
At 13-3, Zaromskis is coming along nicely and has the right mix of experience and talent to take down Diaz.
It won’t be easy, but eventually, Zaromskis’ power will shine through as he unleashes another high kick on Diaz that leads to a big MMA betting upset victory in Miami.
The pick: Marius Zaromskis (+200) by TKO in the second round.
