UFC 119 Frank Mir vs. Mirko “Cro Cop” Promo Video

Somebody already came up with a great 2 minute promo for the newly announced Mir vs. Cro Cop.
Filipovic replaces Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in the UFC 119 main event on Sept. 25 at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Nogueira withdrew from the match because of a hip and knee injury.

I like the promo, not so much the matchup. Poor Mirko is going to get smashed.
August 17th, 2010 at 8:32 amAfraid toa say that this will be a first round submission for that douche bag Mir. Crocop has a very poor ground game despite Rogan Joe's lame attempts to hype it up to noobs. No doubt he will make such comments as "Cro cop has a very underrated ground game Mike!" seconds before Mir pulls guard and kimura's him. Then Mir will painstakingly watch every second of the fight, give interviews about how he planned evry move, and then mouth off about how he has fixed all the holes in his game by lifting heavier weights and that he would now beat Brock Lesnar. This is a totally lame match up, have him fight Roy Nelson or something. Croc cop's stand up is nothing to shout about these days, just circle away from his left foot. He doesn't set up his power shots, doesn't throw leg kicks, he has no game plan and a weak will + no ground. Sucks but i think big nog is finished now.

If Cro Cop isn't so hesitant with "pulling the trigger" on his strikes, then I think it will be nighty-night for Mir. If he is hesitant, then he'll probably end up being submitted. Mir has been beaten silly in recent memory, though.

August 21st, 2010 at 6:12 amWhen did he say he was not 100%? I do recall Cro-Cop saying that he wanted to stay with the UFC during his (Pat Barry) post fight interview. Then a few days later, he was thinking retirement. So, your (MMA) comment does make sense as far as his mental state goes.
I guess we will know when we observe his demeanor as he walks towards the Octagon.
It's tough not being a Mir fan because I have to bet against him no matter who he fights, ie. Kongo!

Mir I think is going to destroy Cro Cop. He's a better boxer then Mirko and if he's worried about kicks, as he was in the Kongo fight, he has little trouble closing the distance to punching range. The only way Mir has had any trouble at all since he started getting serious with his training is people that can hold him in place and completely restrict his movement (Carwin against the fence, Lesnar on the ground). Mir has lately had much sharper stand up than Cro Cop, and he's been keeping himself in much better shape.

He practiced takedowns extensively in preparation for the Kongo fight, but he never had to use one there, and he hasn't shot for one since. Mir has shown the ability to suddenly leap ahead in skill. Having trained his stand up in preparation for Lesnar at 100, he annihilated Nogueira (who has decent hands) on his feet, and the fight after Lesnar he sent Kongo to the mat in a single punch. If he put the same amount of dedication he obviously applied to his stand up skills to his wrestling, he could be sitting on a crazy effective weapon no one has ever seen. This is a bad match up for Mirko anyway you look at it.
