wait a minute ….i thought Vitor was his biggest test yet ?? im a huge fan of da spider..but u dont even have to be a fan to realize he's the best there ever was….people say he should jump up to LHW …but why??? jon jones is already clearing that division out…..AS far as GSP vs Anderson, not a good idea to wish for that fight to happen unless you wanna see GSP napping on the canvas ….real talk.. February 6th, 2011 at 2:46 pm@Brick – Silva should move up to face a challenge, not wait for the much smaller GSP (who may bodly move up) challenge him in what would essentially be a one sided mismatch. You're right, Anderson doesn't have to move up, but if he really wants to challenge himself and continue his legacy as one of the best ever, that can only be accomplished by moving up. Their's absolutely nothing left for him @mw and he's the one who started the whole moving up to face challenges because he was bored at mw, he even mentioned fighting Mir @hw. The only thing that keeps Silva from being the best ever is his lack of killer instinct, meaning even if pu$$y a$$ Leites was falling to the ground because he couldn't get Silva down, Anderson should've followed him down and finished the weaker opponent, that's something Fedor would do and never hesitated to do, that's killer instinct and pure confidence of no matter where the fight goes, the best will prevail there.

February 7th, 2011 at 3:14 pmYou have to realize that Silva isn't exactly a big PPV draw like Griffin has been. Fighters pay is based on their star power and while their's plenty outstanding fighters like Anderson, if they don't appeal or are unknown to the casual fan, then their PPV numbers aren't going to be as big as Liddell, Couture, Brock, ect.
Be that as it may, rest assured Silva (and others) still earn more than the typical base salary and fight night bonus' (when applicable) awarded that night, that's just his contract rate per fight when it was negotiated back when.

Try reading my previous response again regarding "STAR POWER", Brock and Forrest have it and Silva doesn't. Silva's events don't come close to PPV sales as Brocks events, and I mean not even close. That would be like an opening act getting the same pay as the headliner at a concert, people paid to see the headliner, not the opening act, they drew the biggest crowd so they get paid the most.

Add that to the fact that you could fit anderson inside of his chest and you have a pretty scary dude. Anderson would make it exciting but I would put my money on Jones throwing him around the ring like a Brazillian hooker.

I have yet to see a fighter claim that he has figured out silva's technique or yet alone recognize a pattern in how he fights.

February 10th, 2011 at 2:35 pmI wish I could find as many GSP fans like you, I would make a ton of money!!!! There's just no way in hell GSP will come close to beating Anderson, It's performances by Silva like this one which is why the UFC scrapped their 1st super match. This proposed super match only came about again because of Anderson's foolish and stupid antics against Leites and Maia, also because Sonnen had such a great showing despite the steroid controversy.
I'll take all bets regarding this fight, although I still think GSP will have issues with Shields when it hits the ground.
February 10th, 2011 at 7:46 pmi see a lil flaw in andersons game. the best time to strike is when he starts pumping his fist and hands all different directions and get the hell out as fast as possible, which silva tends to do alot. a couple of times and fake it, then shoot for the take down for some ground and pound. all said and done. its easier said then done. but thats the only place i see an opening. what yall think?

February 12th, 2011 at 5:33 pmi see that opening too but look at the Griffin fight. I think it's Silva's way of trying to luring in the strikers so he can counterstrike them while you're off balance or over stretched. He doesn't really try to block punches or kicks, he evades them with movement so his little hand movement makes it easy for him to telegraph when the strikes are coming. Undoubtedly he trains for those moments. Someone really needs to break down his footwork to see when he plants his weight (if ever). Attacking at that moment would yield a more damaging blow. Your idea of getting in with 1 and getting out immediately out is a good idea. Sadly, Vitor is as fast as they come so I don't know if that was any part of his game plan. I don't think his camp worked on getting straight kicked to the chin either.
February 13th, 2011 at 9:39 amI don't see that as a flaw at all, Jaaash is correct in saying the hand movement is just more or less a way of enticing his opponents to engage so he can counter, some of the best boxers always keep their hands moving for natural fluidity and rhythm.
Silva just has so many weapons in the standup game, it's almost impossible to counter it unless you're his equivilent, someone like a Jon Jones could seemingly offset this advantage. What Silva does fear is a high level jj practitioner, ala Leites and Maia. IMO, his only flaw is his confidenct in his bjj and the lack of killer instinct to test it against said opponents.

Mousasi got shut down by King MO, and King Mo just got KO by one of Andersons Black House teammates. As far as humuliations, the Griffin fight was a brilliant dominating performance, but if anything it was the fight against Maia where he completely humuliated himself with his disco/circus type antics.
February 20th, 2011 at 2:52 amAnd yes, GSP can easily move up, every mma fighter can move up in weight if they wanted to, but so what, that doesn't mean it'll equate to success. GSP will be dwarfed by the majority of mw's in the division, this is a new era of fighters who are trying to gain every advantage possible and part of that is by moving down in weight. Todays mw's were yesteredays lhw's and even hw's. Some fighters just don't have the frame to go up in weight, it's like asking Frankie Edgar to move up to ww, not gonna happen. On the other hand, Anderson has the talent, height, reach, and frame to carry the extra weight and move up to lhw, but GSP would get destroyed by Silva @mw. I say again, their was a reason why the UFC decided to cancel the 1st time these 2 were suppose to be on a collision course, and that reason was because of Andersons' complete destruction of Irvin and Griffin.
