May 16th, 2010 at 9:04 amWell that was easy, Rogers seemed more afraid of Overeem than he was of Fedor. I didn't think Rogers was a top 10 fighter, especially after his performance right before Arlovsky against Ron Humphrey. But because of his quick ko of glass jaw Andre as well as the heart and tenacity he showed against the last Emperor you had to put him there.
Two things need to happen in order for Overeem to fight Fedor, 1) Strikefarce needs to remain in business for it to happen, and 2) Overeem will probably have to be subjected to olympic style testing before Fedor will agree to the fight.

He didn't look comfortable standing with Overeem and even worst when it hit the ground. I don't even want to know what would have happen if elbow strikes would have been allowed. Roger was out classed by a more developed fight and we shouldn't take anything away from Rogers for trying.

May 16th, 2010 at 6:53 amI'm not sure if Rogers should have been in the top Ten HW Fighters, who did he fight to be placed in the top 10? Andrei Arlovski who wasn't top ten and Fedor which he got KO. He looked great in the Ron "Abongo" Humphrey fight but Humphrey had 6 fights until that one and wasn't ranked either. I guess what I'm saying is that Roger never beat a top ten fight so why should we place him their? I can see putting Cain and Carwin which both have limited fights but the level of competition is worthy of they rankings.

I will admit that Overeem looked good, but you can tell he is taking performing enhancing drugs. Its so obvious. Thats why he has not tried to go to the UFC(They actually drug test). There is no possible way for someone to be that much stronger than someone who weighs a significant amount of weight more, unless they are taking drugs.

The reason is because Rogers ducked his head which would make it impossible to hit him legally. The only actually good thing about strikeforce is Big John McCarthy. The UFC needs him. I'm not sure the UFC does their own drug tests, but I know the athletic commission's do test fighters for each event as long as it's sanctioned whether it's UFC, Strikeforce, etc. I did read (please correct me if I'm wrong and you actually know) a random selection of fighters from each event are selected by the athletic commissions and you never know who will be tested, but I think Strikeforce said they would test Overeem for this event as well even if he wasn't selected as one of the random. Now how honest those tests given by Strikeforce to their champ is another story. For now Overeem did good. I wish Rogers would come out confidant, he's looked so hesitant the last two fights. Maybe next time…..

Overeem didn't look impressive aside from his "horse meat diet" strength. That's it. Roger's didn't show up. He was visibly scared of Overeem. And his ground game was utter crap. Cured up into the fetal position and shut down. Sad.

Brett was saying all this mess about he's been working on his ground game prior to fight and he does absolutely NOTHING on his back. looks like Overeem vs Fedor with alternate Big Foot Silva at moment. Rodgers looked pretty frightened to swing for the fences at with his prior KO's which was his eventual down fall. The grim needs to go more to the gym and maybe change a few more tires and get his original physique back when he was knocking niggas out! But on the other hand Rodgers is kind-of the S.F. version of a TUF graduate b/c he lacks strong foundation of basic skills rather a plethora of mixed skills from here and there mixed with his brawling. Either way imo i think Rodgers is still years away from beating a guy like Overeem skill/experience wise. Overeem is the strikeforce hybrid version of a Brocks size with Mirs skills but "upgraded."

Fedor has ridiculous hand speed and power but is not a very technical striker. He showed that against Arlovski. I think Overeem could pick him apart on the feet with those vicious kicks and knees. Also, you just get the impression that he is too confident in his ways to keep challenging himself and learn new skills (such as technical striking). I would love to see Fedor and Overeem go at it, and I have to say I think Allistair would win.
