Micheal Bisping is a good fighter, but compared to Dan Henderson he is still a little leauge and I think Dan proved that tonight. Ok OK, comprehensive KO, awesome punch, not many fighters could have survived that, and even though I am from Clitheroe and rooting for Michael, I had respect for the way Dan conducted himself prior to the fight, calm cool and collected, but my respect was wiped out when he laid the second killer punch, totally out of order. Henderson knew his oponent was out cold and to rain a blow to the head/face like that, was a shitty thing to do.

if you notice Dan also landed that hammer fist when he fought Wanderlei Silva, right after his left hook. You can’t stop yourself in mid air, you have to know that your opponent is out or you wait until the ref stops it. Sometimes fighters will get dropped and pop back up, there is no way of knowing. Dan did nothing wrong, if he kept punching him when the ref was pulling him away than yes, but he did the right thing.

You can tell that Dan knew this because he wasn’t doing anything technical, he knew that Bisping would keep circling left, straight into Dan’s right hand. If you understand MMA at all you would know that throughout its history, many fighters have recovered from savage punches because the attacker didnt follow up. Often a fighter is knocked out from the inital punch, but then regains conciouseness after he hits the mat. it is smart fighting to ALWAYS fight untill the refferee stops it. for example, if James Irvin had not followed up on Houston Alexander in their fight, he would have gotten right back up and the fight would have continued. Alexander was knocked out while standing, but when he hit the floor he regained conciousness. So please, do some thinking before you say Dan Henderson was out of line giving that second punch, it was nessessary, and quite frankly it would have been irresponsible for him not to have followed up.

I liked Bisping on the show, he seemed like the most intelligent and well spoken fighter on the program. However after hearing him make ignorant comments after fighting Matt Hamel, I lost respect for him. The fight with Hamel was a draw at best.

Lewis, when you’re a professional fighter, you can’t take a chance and let your opponent get up or rest for any matter until the ref. calls the match. Its true that the last punch was unnecessary but Dan said it himself that he was in the heat of the moment and kept fighting until the ref. pulled him off.

It’s happened in past fights where they know the other person is KO’d but they go in for one more hit or head stomp. The second punch from Hendo was pure instinct, i can almost guarantee it. Ive been in fights where ive knocked the guy out and hit him 4 times before i realized he was already out. So I can completely understand The heat of the moment for Hendo. You have to have been in that kind of situation to really understand. kill mode takes a few seconds to turn off. i loved this fight, i like things where one guy is talking smack and the other guy cool-ly agrees and later proves him wrong though action not words. “Sticks and Stones” beats words in this situattion .Also Yea, that second punch was nothing to be alarmed at. Here’s the deal… for those of you who didn’t have the fortune of seeing it LIVE, the knockout is for sure real. Got the PPV and I will be forever grateful. It was about 3 miles from my place at the Mandalay but I couldn’t warrant spending 2 bills for nosebleed seats, especially after seeing Hatton get jackhammered in the 2nd round a few weeks back.
As far as sportsmanship, the issue is a wash. From one perspective, Hendo COULD have waited a half-second to see if a finisher was necessary. It was also in poor taste to actually admit he gave him a little extra lovin’ after a near deathblow to begin with. By the 2nd round, I swore I saw Hendo’s body flash before he threw the right hand LOL. However, the reality of MMA is merciless aggression first and yes… fight until they pull you off. Anyone who’s watched UFC’s greatest comebacks or has ever seen Donald Cerrone fight in the WEC knows it’s best to finish absolutely when you’ve hurt someone. Couple that with redline adrenaline levels and ire from a relentlessly shit-talking braggard who gives Brits a bad rep… and that knee-jerk reaction of a diving forearm shiver to the dome piece was nothing less than the expected human behavior in that frozen moment.
Bottom line, Bisbing almost literally got knocked into next week and 99.44% of the world LOVED it. On Halloween I’m gonna carry a broom handle and wear a Bisbing shirt while I lie on the floor of the club. Cyprus Hill said it best… “What go around come around kid!”
