Looks like the uk guys did a good job but can he beat GSP I dont think not on the groung anyway. But he could knocks him out as we all know GSP cant take a good hit just look at BJ or MS. I think looking at Hardy I would say he hits harder then both BJ-MS so I think it could be a good fight. But money down It would be on GSP
I think Hardy is a very good fighter and a great counter puncher, I actually picked him to knock out Swick. I don’t think either of these guys are ready for GSP, but he does have to defend his belt against somebody, which most likely means the fight will be in Canada or the UK because it’s just not as big of a draw in the States.
Hardy definitely has a punchers chance especially since George isn’t a big hitter and will most likely win a decision if he doesn’t get ko’ed.
I disagree that GSP can’t take a punch, Serra’s strike landed on the back of his head and he just never recovered because of the accurate follow up punches. But I do think Hardy can hurt him with one of those counter left hooks. I wish Dan could’ve taken a few more fights before getting thrown in there with GSP because I think he’s a legitimate threat, but seeing as he was basically replacement for Kampmann, he could use a couple more worthy opponents before a title shot.
Dan Hardy owned in this fight! His countering was top notch, and he is one hell of a tough guy! Swick caught him with a couple of big hits, but Hardy just shrugged them off.
As far as facing GSP goes, Hardy wouldnt win on the way things stand right now, GSP is one of the best if not the best welterweight ive ever seen. You can tell Hardy wants to train a lot more before facing him, as Dana White suggested the fight be in Feb, and Hardy saying he needs more time, should be a good fight though, I put my money on GSP, but Hardy could knock his ass out with the punches that he throws. Brilliant stand up fighter.
GSP will destroy Hardy on the ground, that is my take. (2nd or 3rd round).
I would have liked to see Hardy vs Kotchek for example, or Hardy vs Fitch, before the GSP’s fight.
Hardy will need a serious cardiorythm, an endurance close to running the marathon. GSP is relentless, he will combined jabs, combos and ground games. The question is can Hardy endure the multi talented GSP?
I have no doubt in my mind that GSP will destroy Hardy. I belong to those who believe that fighting techniques and discipline prevail over raw power. (If you combine both you have a Fedor)
I think Dana made a wise decision, as far as Hardys fighting GSP. Why? Because UFC needs to open up to the rest of the world, and each fight is a marketing test. Nothing is acquired in advance in this business and all the ways to promote our UFC is positive for the future. My dream is to see a UFC EURO vs UFC BRAZIL or UFC EURO vs UFC USA. I am originally from Europe, and I guaranty you there are great talents out there, who just need to be discovered.
I disagree with Hardy being destroyed; realistically he has the easer fight he has nothing to lose. You say GSP is multitalented (he is talented) but I can tell you now what his fight plan is going to be, so Dan will go into this fight knowing what to expect and be trained to fight of his back. People don’t understand the Dan has been around for a long time his fight record is 22-6 and GSP is 19-2 so he has a lot of experience.
We seen it in the Machida – Shogun you cant right anyone off. I do agree that he should have a couple more fights in the U.S but GSP needs to defend his title against someone. It Don’t make sense Hardy fighting Koscheck as he just beat a better fighter in mike swick.
Your post is interesting, it shows how knowledgeable you are in your own limits though.
I explain myself:
you said: “realistically he has the easer fight he has nothing to lose.”
my answer: Oh really? Fighting GSP is easy?
you said:”People don’t understand the Dan has been around for a long time his fight record is 22-6 and GSP is 19-2 so he has a lot of experience”
my answer is: Do you judge a good fighter by the number of fights?
you said:”Don’t make sense Hardy fighting Koscheck as he just beat a better fighter in mike swick. ”
my answer is: Oh really? Mike Swick is a better fighter?
you said:” Dan will go into this fight knowing what to expect and be trained to fight of his back”
my answer is: I do hope he knows what to expect. In case you have not seen any of GSP’s fights, we never know what to expect with him. I repeat myself, GSP is a multi talented fighter, just look at his stats, number talks me amigo.
you said;” I can tell you now what his fight plan is going to be,”
my answer is: Please explain to us his fight plan.
As we have seen in the GSP/ Serra’s fight…we never know until the end.
Fist, I think GSP will this fight. I didn’t say GSP is an easy fight I said Dan has the easer fight he has nothing to lose. If you watched the Machida shogun fight you can see how being the underdog can be an advantage.
I didn’t say Dan was a good fighter because the amount of fights he had. I said he has a lot of experience because of the amount of fights he has had.
If you look at the facts it shows that Swick was coming off a four win streak before Hardy where as Koscheck just has one win before his last lost. So in terms of confidence and momentum Swick is the better fighter.
Finally ask yourself where is Hardy’s best chance to win this fight? it’s not on the ground is it?. Hardy has never been tested on the ground with the level of skill GSP has, so do you really think GSP is going to stand up with Dan?
GSP could neutralize any of Hardy's ground game. BJ was the Prodigy. He is famed for the strength of his guard but GSP just smashed BJ's guard like it was nothing. It was shocking to see BJ on the ground getting hammered so badly. GSP is beast on top.
But, GSP's chin and KO power has been a little questionable. Not bad by any measure, but not great. Hardy's a bit of a puncher and he can take it as well as he can dish it out. The thing is, Hardy still doesn't have THAT much of an *overall* better striking game IMO, if at all.
Personally, I give this fight to GSP. Dan Hardy will do okay, but no way will he beat him.

i would definitely like to see GSP’s kyokoshin.
i have never seen him use his karate
it was always his superman punch and his wrestling that owns people.
