The Anderson Silva Dilema
Until now I think everybody Dana White has let go from the UFC’s clinch was justified. With Dan Henderson out of the UFC and its middleweight dilemma of trying to find or make a legitimate challenger for Anderson, especially since Belfort had to pull out from his fight with Silva, I have to say he screwed up.
At this point the UFC has some ground game fighters that pose a bit of a challenge for Anderson. Damien Maia is at the top this list but I just don’t think he can finish him. I’m a firm believer that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is one of the most important styles to have in a fighting game but you need a very well rounded game if you think your going to have a prayer against Anderson Silva.
When Royce Gracie was walking through people in the early days of the UFC there was no such thing as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu defense unless you actually new BJJ. My BJJ coach says that every MMA fighter loses a belt the instant he steps into the cage and if you have a weak striking game make it two belts.
Let’s not forget that Anderson is a BJJ black Belt himself and most likely better than ever. He has made fools of anybody he has faced with a one-dimensional game, case and point Thales Leites. I could see if Damien was a big strong middleweight like Henderson but he’s far from that. In fact he is a small middleweight.
Dan Henderson is the only man since Travis Lutter that has shown any offense against Anderson and he won a round by man handling him to the ground and trying to put a beating on him. He said after the fight that he thought he would be able to take him down at will but was unable after the first round.
There are others such as Nate Marquarte that could have a chance against the champion but as we saw against Chael Sonnen he still has some chinks in his armor. I do think at some point soon Nate will have a run at the title and most likely against Silva or Belfort.
Don’t get me wrong here, I will be rooting for Damien the whole way with my heart but my fighting sense knows that a win against Anderson is highly un-likely. The only fighter available at this point and time that has a chance against Anderson Silva is Dan Henderson. He has one punch knock out power and we all know anyone can get caught. He also has elite level wrestling and in the past this has proven to be Anderson’s nemesis.
Unfortunately a fight between Henderson and Silva in not going to happen in the next two years so we might as well watch and enjoy what the best fighter in the world is capable of.

dud, can you upload the aftermath episodes of TUF 11 ?
im a tru follower of this site, every day i chek it! i just want to se that, pleassee i will apreciet it soo much, tank you
April 9th, 2010 at 8:14 pmUFC just Fu*kn resign Silva already he is the best and ONLY POUND FOR POUND FIGHTER YOU GUYS HAVE! They are trying to dwindle down Silvas contract so they dont have to pay him the big bucks for big fights/views he produces. I mean if you seriously think about it Middleweight and down are the only UFC classes where ALL (i mean ALL) "challengers" of the champ are MAJOR underdogs let me reiterate MAJOR UNDERDOGS. LWH- has too many names w/ talent that can be plausible #1 Champ. HW- literally under 7 LEGIT title contenders thats why Dana is not in a rush to have them face each other (ie dos santos/ velasquez. dont let the UFC BS you by saying HW is the deepest its been they only say that b/c its not just Mir and Lesnar anymore! the only left LEGIT HW's are Carwin! w/ wild card HW Roy Nelson and Kimbo Slice think about why they have not had a REMATCH yet? *coff RECORD PADDING coff* the only/last HW draw though unproven is James Toney) I got off the Silva topic but it just pisses me off how UFC, or should i say ZUFFA, tries to hype every last drop of plausible advertising material there is then a fight or two later double back on there claim. (ex. Couture vs Nog. If Nog cant KO Couture why did they hype Nog's chin so much against Velasquez? WAIT just "MAYBE" they meant it as an "under-the-table" indirect hype up for Cain knowing that Nog is on "the decline" and Cain is climbing the proverbial ladder since Brock had some time off. *coff RECORD PADDING coff* <— at its finest might i add!) I just hate how they "presume" ALL major mma fans are knuckle head meat heads or chemically imbalanced emotionally unstable idiots who loved to see bashing and smashing w/ blood. Given that maybe the ZUFFA's angle for new viewers.
P.s. 3rd paragraph end of 1st sentence. its KNEW BJJ not new BJJ.
April 9th, 2010 at 8:46 pmim sorry but what thr fuck does nogs chin have to do with randy couture getting kod and why would you rematch roy nelson and kimbo … kimbo shouldn't even have a contract he was beat in his first fight and hes definitley not a contender at hw wildcard or otherwise. even chieck kongo is a more legitimate claim to a title shot that kimbo … kimbo slid by houston alexander whos a big lhw really and not even in an exciting fight. i have nothing against kimbo but im tired of all these nuthuggers acting like hes a real contender hes jsut like james toney his name is on the card to put asses in seats.
April 9th, 2010 at 9:02 pmis it hard for you to read or comprehend? what did you not get about my Nog's chin reference? Plus i never said kimbo is fighting for a wildcard spot there is no such thing in mma. My reference to wildcard is that kimbo and nelson are the potential (in the long long run) title shot fighters that fan would come to see at HW. Other than those folks everyone else's records and appeal in HW are tainted and flawed. You need to spot sippin on the syrup and sleeping w/ you sister and go to fucken school more often! Country FOO!
April 9th, 2010 at 9:25 pmoh dear
April 9th, 2010 at 10:24 pmI will see what we can do
April 9th, 2010 at 10:43 pmWow, your telling people to go to school more often. I hope you adhir to your own advice. The guy probably didnt understand your post because it is just rambling, and run on sentences. Funny how you correct your use of the wrong KNEW in the 3 rd paragraph. I only see one paragraph. Do you even know how to start a new paragraph? Here is a hint.
April 9th, 2010 at 11:34 pmI agree with most of the artical, in reference to Maia not having much of a chance. I am on the fence about Hendo being the only real challenger, Hendo is very one dementual and doesn`t bring any surprises. In my opinion Silva, GSP, and BJ need to go up in weight to get some more competative fights.
Thak´s Duud,
really
April 10th, 2010 at 2:12 amownage. and agreed. silva need to move up. we know he can handle it.
April 10th, 2010 at 6:30 pmLoL.. Capt. Save-a-Hoe! Quit dick riding bro! My rambling was meant to site a justification of my statement. Isnt your last sentence basically what i said originally? LMAO
April 10th, 2010 at 11:13 pmLOL, Jonny I can't believe you read through that psycho babble, I had to stop after the so called 2nd or 3rd sentence. And to think he corrects himself at the end of that pile of mess, instead of just going back and adding a "k" to the word, unbelieveable!!!!!!
Anyway, moving up is the only viable solution for the 3 aforementioned champions (1 now former), however with BJ's loss to Edgar, I think he has a little more work to do at lw (atleast a rematch), and gauge where he stands and if he's still up for the bigger boys.
