  1. WEAKASS FIGHT!! only good in the beginning!

by RABBIT on Apr 11, 2010 at 1:10 am

  2. When Chael Sonnen spoke of Silva knowing English and having disdain for the press… I laughed. Boy was I wrong. Silva has disdain for not only the MMA press, but also for MMA in general! VERY disappointing!

by MMA Mark on Apr 11, 2010 at 1:28 am

  3. True its not a great fight but it still anit as boing as a GSP fight

by Mr Follow on Apr 11, 2010 at 1:39 am

  4. In Silvas defense ill reiterate why put 100% effort into something that you can do as efficiently with only 40% effort. Silva isnt the type of fighter who enters the ring to demolish and embarrass his opponents*. He only goes into the match to prove he has a better skill set and versatile. Silva is the poster boy for TRUE Martial Arts you fight with honor and respect why beat you opponent more than you need to? Plus i truly believe he wont go all out on his fellow country men.

*He may showboat but IMO its b/c he gives his opponent more time to recover for the benefit of a better fight which does not always turn out. Dana White CALM THE FUCK DOWN your not in the ring and your not going to fire Silva so STFU! (not everybody is like Brock a meat head who likes to smash)

by RawbSkrilla on Apr 11, 2010 at 1:45 am

  5. Silva's a fucking fagget!!!!! wow cant stand up and fight i can't wait for GPS to fuck him up and show respect while doing it!

by Ryan! on Apr 11, 2010 at 2:00 am

  6. Yeah Dana calm the fuck down… and Rogan STFU too.

    Silva is the best!

I was wrong though to say Maia would do better than ppl expected. I blame him for this fiasco just like Thales.

How can ppl get angry when the challenger is just plain outclassed. Look at Maia's face FFS.

by humbug on Apr 11, 2010 at 2:15 am

  7. ok if you are so good finish it. If you're maia go for broke throw hands and just try something, ANYTHING. this was bullshit

  8. this must be one of those guys who thinks submissions are gay

    by '''' on Apr 11, 2010 at 2:29 am

  9. fuck you that was pure show man ship i loved it

by mush on Apr 11, 2010 at 2:31 am

  10. what a weird fight – i gotta say
what is up with silva – i really do think that rogan was right in saying that he was gassed
and i dont think it was from a weight cut or from any punches, i really do think he thinks he is just too good – and to some extent he is, but losing fans quickly.
I think maia did as good as anyone could have asked – he made it to the end, didnt get KO'd or even rocked really.
He even managed to slug a few out on silva – for me that is worthy of a good fighter.

there is no other choice. Nobody will be happy until this happens.

by humbug on Apr 11, 2010 at 2:34 am

  12. That was one of the weirdest fights i have ever seen, seems like it was a mixture of over confidence and lack of preperation for Silva. He seemed to clown Maia for the first two rounds but seemed very uncomfortable and tired in the last 2 rounds. He needs a challenge, he should abandon the MW belt and take super fights for the rest of his career. A.S vs GSP, or a ton of high profile fights at lhw or hw. This foolishness has to stop though

by mmafan on Apr 11, 2010 at 2:39 am

  13. LMAO… showboat is for the fans which disguises his respect for the maia to not pummel the shit out him. Hence TRUE MARTIAL ARTIST if you know you can do something and everyone already knows you can do it what is your incentive "to prove everyone right?" One who is true to himself and his art does not let outside factors interfere with his morals and beliefs. Just b/c someones profession is a fighter doesnt mean he's a savage animal who thrives on blood. Mentality is what separates Silva from the meat-heads. No one wants to see anyone beat a dead horse. (maia is the horse is you didnt understand lol)

Ps… are you angry at me or what? you seem to have some sort of beef? you act like i fucked your lady or something with the insinuations in your DOUBLE post lol. DUMB FUCK!

by RawbSkrilla on Apr 11, 2010 at 2:42 am

  14. LMAO! at least gsp did something… or is GSP to canadian for you?

    by dRew.R on Apr 11, 2010 at 2:46 am

  15. It was not the best of AS. Definitely good. Get in a ring with a top fighter and put your arms down. See how long you last.

by humbug on Apr 11, 2010 at 2:55 am

  16. did u not see him fucking around.. ur an idiot….. he coulda taken him out any time he wanted.. hes just having fun

by ryansadumbass on Apr 11, 2010 at 2:56 am

  17. Yeah he needs to be a bit more humble. Dunno seemed like he fed off the cheers of the fans at the start a bit too much and then over did it with the taunting.

but hey its not like we havne't seen him do this before.

by humbug on Apr 11, 2010 at 2:59 am

  18. gps you mean gsp moron

  19. not the first time it happens to anderson! /:

by Rulo on Apr 11, 2010 at 4:51 am

  20. Silva is a champion, he doesn't have to take risks to win the fight. Demian was the challenger so he should have took the risks and try to get him.

by Zachrel on Apr 11, 2010 at 5:03 am

by Joel Rocha on Apr 11, 2010 at 5:30 am

  22. Maia shouldn't have even stepped in the octagon with Silva, putting the worst striker in the class with arguably the best striker in MMA was a bad idea by White. Since there is no ranking system in the UFC i think someone like Marquart should have taken the place of Belfort since Sonnon wasn't able to, in all honesty anyone but maia would have been a little less predictible.
But seriously the showboating has to stop its annoying, disrespectful, and ruins the whole card.. glad i didn't waste my money on it.

by WEAK on Apr 11, 2010 at 5:41 am

  23. Why should he (Silva) try when there is no challenge, give him a fight and I'm sure he will too.

by Kiwiruz on Apr 11, 2010 at 5:46 am

  24. I don't think you realize but Maia was the third option to fight that dancing monkey . It was supposed to be Vitor Belfort but he got Injured then Chael sonnen but he was not cleared to fight with a cut he got in the Marquart fight . Marquart well he got his ass kicked so that pretty much leaves Maia . But yes he won the fight and the dance contest as well . Anderson you are a star now dance like one .

by Achilles on Apr 11, 2010 at 5:50 am

by WEAK on Apr 11, 2010 at 6:12 am

  27. yeah not so boring witha dancing monkey in there huh? ohh no my bad thats Mace Windu… shiiiiiiiiiit!!

  28. i mean ok we all no silva is better then this guy demian maia i mean he knocked out forest why not knock out this dude i think he doesnt care if he puts a show on or not i dont like this guy gsp is gonna wear him out he is not gonna be able to keep up especially if he cuts all that weight off in this fight is boring i seen some one say this fight is better then watchen a gsp fight if it is why was the cheeers gsp in a silva fight lmao because this wasnt a fight it was a show in silva was the main clown what a jack azz gsp is gonna teach him some respect all of silva bullshit saying he waants to put a show on is bullshit cheal sonnen is right lmao he doesnt care about the fans why just he k.o maia he scared to throw punches he is scared to get knocked out thats why he always throw kicks he is scared to throw the first punch

by jojo on Apr 11, 2010 at 6:21 am

  29. your stupid kid you dont enjoy the true art of MMA and that's what gsp represents the art. And Anderson Silva is a little bitch and when gsp fights him Anderson will be getting slammed the whole night.

by Tyler on Apr 11, 2010 at 6:36 am

  30. It's all about longevity in this sport… if you can win without collateral damage… then so be it THIS IS MARTIAL ARTS… it says more about the challenger's inefficiency than the master class Silva showed again…

Dana and Joe Silva… if you want him challenge them match the fucking fights properly you dipshits…

    Anderson take a bow… I salute you…

Machida fights the same elusive way, they can both step up the heat in the zone and at the same time remain impossible to strike or take down…

Shogun Vs Anderson after the GSP fight…

  31. Fedor will knock Anderson Silva out !!!!

  32. silva é um merda!

by decoRJ on Apr 11, 2010 at 6:51 am

  33. When GSP last fought, I didnt hear you GSP d!ck riders complaining how GSP didnt end the fight. GSP's strength is in his wrestling and ground control, which is the game he played in his last fight. Silva's strength is in his stand up, and his control of that way. GSP could have finished his last opponent with and arm bar and a Kimora but he didnt. Silva could have knocked his opponent out but he didn't. Both champs choose to keep both of their fights in the area's of their strengths to win the fight. But.. Silva's utter dominance at his strength was more obvious and greater than GSP and his wrestling. Silva is a way better dominant fighter!!!!!! He mocks and humiliates his oppenents by his skills. He made Forrest run out of the ring in humility. This fight he not only kept his hands down, he actually put them both on the matt while sparring! Its like GSP going for a take down with is eyes closed using only one hand! GSP could never do that if he wanted too. He isnt that dominant.

by Toronto MT-BJJ on Apr 11, 2010 at 7:21 am

  34. U Buggggiiinnn. GSP has no chance in hell. ur boy fights light heavywieghts. he'll fight heavywieghts. Fuck it it give him a bullet proof vest hell fight the war in Iraq on his own. So fuck u. Ur dumb. Suck a dick FAGGOT

  35. AMAAAAAzzzzzing Fight Silva shows his talent in brillant fashion dumb mutherfuckers are unimpressed cuz they dont understand the genius. Dude broke maias nose and just let him flail to show off. enjoyed it thoroughly. Dana white is a big fat gay homo fuck. no one respects him he can go suck a dick. silva deserves to be champ of every ufc wieghtclass and will be. most entertaining person in sports. only person who gets criticized for not knocking muuufuckers out. GSP cant even submit some faggot from england everyones still on his cock. Fuck CANADA. Silva is king get used to it

  40. so humiliating opponents by acting like an asshole is what you enjoy? hahahaha LOSER!

  41. Trailer park life?! Try prison life, obviously he's posting while he's researching his drug case while in the prisons library, what an f*ing loser!!!!!

  42. what an ARROGANT APE! he's like some black, ghetto trash.

by trevor on Apr 11, 2010 at 8:21 am

  43. I don't think Damian realized Anderson was gased and should of went after him, Damain landed some decent shots the 4th and 5th round. And his striking didn't look that bad really pretty good, just no where near as fast as Anderson.
Piss poor ending from the Spider, its like a super smart kid that is in 5th grade but on a 7th grade level, Anderson if you are bored put on the extra pounds and go fight the bas asses in the L.H division.

    by scottie2hottie on Apr 11, 2010 at 8:30 am

  44. @RawbSkrilla That is the most ass backwards deficiently retarded comment you could make regarding this match. "Why put 100% effort when you can do it with 40%", STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!!!! That doesn't even make any sense, the only thing that says is that Anderson is not a complete fighter and he fears a good ground game. I'm a fan of Silva's too, but I'd be a f*ing fool to try and defend this performance. And how and the hell do you equate respect with all that childish bullshit he was doing to Maia in the cage, any TRUE MARTIAL ARTIST (as you would say) would never disrespect or try and humiliate their opponent as such.

And if you didn't realize, this is a fan driven business like all other professional sports and I would bet heavily that most were not only disappointed, but would hesitate to buy another Silva fight unless it's against someone like a Lesnar who would go in there and pound him into submission. DAMN, you even said he was showboating in order to give Maia a chance to recover, I can't even describe how infinitely dumb that one was.

by PRE-EMPTIVE STRIKE on Apr 11, 2010 at 2:13 am

  45. c'mon! you cant say that anderson was good in that fight. i like silva, but i am so pissed at him right now because of his luckluster preformence! i laughed at first when he started jumping around and enjoyed it but by the third round i was pissed off! i think he should have gotten a point taken away like the ref said. And if he outclassed Maia then fight the fucking fight! i gained alot of respect for Maia and lost alot for Silva.. its a shame i actually expected silva to show some me a great performance..

    by dRew.R on Apr 11, 2010 at 2:44 am

  46. HAHA as much as I know and have been taught not to be like this…

I couldn't help but enjoy it too.

by humbug on Apr 11, 2010 at 2:44 am

  47. I think Dana said it best – "if he's so good then why not do a tyson and knock his opponent out in 2 minutes. I'd rather people refuse to watch his fights because he kocks a guy out in 2 minutes than because he dances round the cage for five rounds."

But yeah, poor matchmaking is also a massive factor. Who could seriously offer Silva a competitive fight though? That's obviously what he's craving, and his opponents lack of ability to offer it is what makes him behave like he did last night. I really dislike him but as a fight fan can only dream what a bout it would be if Anderson fought someone worthy enough to draw out his full potential.

by JC Lately on Apr 11, 2010 at 10:55 am

  48. i think once that wanderlei wins against yoshihiro akiyama and chael sonnen and belfort are still injured, i believe that he will get the next title shot at 185.

come one wanderlei! make sexy yama go back to japan so that you can kill this arrogant jerk! show the world why anderson left pride!!

    by ??????? on Apr 11, 2010 at 12:58 pm

  55. yes i did know that, not thinking that Marquart was injured as well Sonnen, so mybad.. but personally i think its just Silva honouring his contract, without risking himself.. just dancing around embarrassing himself, his organization, and his opponent.
i would like to see Silva have a rematch with either Marquart or Cote..

by WEAK on Apr 11, 2010 at 6:00 am

  56. Firstly- you wold have to be a total noob not to predict this outcome. Dana is solely to blame because, on paper, you might aswell have put Thales Lietes back in there. I haven't seen the fight because of the DEAD LINK! but from the comments it was exactly as expected (although i saw a small clip of Maia throwing some surprisingy good, aggressive shots). Put it this way- silva will never engage in any ground battle with a 1 dimensional grappler. If you have nothing to offer him in the striking department- you are a) not going to engage enough for him to ko you and 2) To him it would be the equivelant of fighting a drunk guy on the street- believe me it is very difficult to go for the kill against a guy who's standup skills are amatuer in comparison you. If you can humiliate a fighter, in the old martial arts ways, there is no need to knock him out.

by Joobs on Apr 11, 2010 at 2:52 pm

  57. What happened to the DEAD LINK link? why did you get rid of it? it was a very efficient aspect of your website- allowing you to quickly put up another link (and thereby making your website excellent and better than the rest. Also, can you please remove that retarded advertising that you do- it is highly irritating and probably puts viruses on peoples computers. That stupid advert that comes overrides your page when you click on a video is infuriating. Just leave the ads on the bottom and sides of a webspage. And that fucking liverpool laureate ad that sneakily opens itself on another tab without informing you- what the fuck are you playing at MMA HITS.

by Joobs on Apr 11, 2010 at 2:58 pm

  58. Uh. i dont know what the big deal is.. Yea.. he toyed with his opponent…. so what. He… totally outclassed him. and he was showing that. he was practically saying "give me a real a opponent!!!!" what did they want to see? him go in there and knock him out in 5 seconds? so what if he didn't. he showed he could box with someone in a way that just made it look too easy and he could put him out at anytime.. give silva a real opponent. he showed great ability in that fight… so what if he didnt put him our, or he acted strange.. it was still entertaining to watch for me. he messed around with Forrest a bit too, but it wasnt a big deal.. so wtf? DW needs to stop whining. . . they did put the worse striker against the best in MMA… duhhh.

    by jesterhead1985 on Apr 11, 2010 at 7:24 am

  59. Belfort vs Silva woulld have been an unbelieveable fight. Belfort is a very dangerous fighter with savage power and speed. When Belfort pulled out, it really showed you the lack of intelligence at UFC HQ. These guys really don't know what they are doing. Joobs, you had it right in an earlier post when you said that anybody can put on the obvious fights. When Belfort pulled out, the ufc should not have just crapped their pants and put damien Maia in their. Honestly, i expected this fight to be 5 rounds of silva tagging maia, maia dropping for the but scoop, silva dancing around until maia gets back up. Dana White can have no complaints. As they say, it was the triumph of hope over experience. But then to use Silva as a scapegoat? What a fucking ego maniacal prick. When u have a title shot against silva, you have to fight him, because u should only be there if you think you can defeat him. He doesn't have to pursue a fucking rabbit down a hole. I don't know why anyone thinks Fedor, the greatest fighter to have ever lived, should enter this joke of an organisation. I wish he had ko'd Maia though- he sounds like such a whiny bitch when he speaks english .

  60. trevor – your an Internet tough guy, piece of shit.. lmao.

by Toronto MT-BJJ on Apr 11, 2010 at 4:47 pm

  61. unless the fight goes his way ,belfort has a tendencie to give up in the later round !!
wich ulimately would lead to the same outcome as yesterday, that is if the fight last!!
the ufc should let silva fight at heavy weight and get his ass kicked;the guy need a wake up call

by micko on Apr 11, 2010 at 5:31 pm

  62. What a douche bag. What a boring fight. I dont even think Silva deserves a shot at GSP after this garbage. Silva better be better than that agianst GSP or he will get imbarassed.

by Big Jonny D on Apr 11, 2010 at 6:09 pm

  63. i think he is trying to become the first real prize fighter in MMA history. or second to brock. by that i mean hes trying to become some sort of villain to attract ppv buyers like mayweather does. even if you hate him, you will buy the ppv to see if he gets whoop.

by bobby on Apr 11, 2010 at 6:20 pm

  64. it was danas own fault for selling us the ppv fight. he knew Maia would get killed the same way clottey got killed by manny. P4P fighters taking on regulars. this is the same case of ARUM ripping us off. the real fight didnt happen so we get stuff like this.

by bobby on Apr 11, 2010 at 6:24 pm

by CABULOSO on Apr 11, 2010 at 7:08 pm

  68. When Belfort pulled out, rather than put on an obvious stinker of a matchup against Maia, Dana should have made Silva watch a LHW- so many exciting 3d (as opposed to maia- a 1 dimensional jiu jitsu guy) fighters up there. Having now watched the fight I now don't blame this on maia. maia showed a lot of heart in that last round (although everytime silva attacked he just backed off for 5 rounds- he sort of acknowledged his inferiority- not even an attemot at a counter attack (although i would have done the same)) Silva was just messing around because it was so laughably easy for him. There is no honour in destroying somebody who is leagues behind you- you need some adrenaline to really fight, but he probably has had tougher sparring sessions with his students.
I think also that he thought maia disrespected him by getting in his face during the mui thai bowing ceremony (unwittingly on maia's behalf). Silva just wanted to humiliate him after that.

  72. If those ads went away, so would this website and so would all the fights you watch for free.

by wth on Apr 11, 2010 at 8:49 pm

  73. Ok y'all, stop defending Silva. Fighting is his job. He gets paid to do it. Regardless of who he gets matched up against, it's his job to fight the fight to the best of his ability, and also in an entertaining way since this is a spectator sport and that's how the fighters and the company make their money. I'm not a fan of his disrespect of Maia, but that's a really minor point. What pisses me off as a fight fan is his refusal to actually engage and fight. Sure, 1 or 2 rounds of showing his dominance and superiority is fine, but Silva obviously still had the energy to put Maia away in the 3rd, 4th, or 5th. Rogan was totally high when he said that Silva might have been gassed. He was just as quick and sharp as he was earlier.

If Silva's pissed about the low level of competition in his fights, the ring is not the place to show his displeasure. Talk about it at press conferences, make a stink of it at the post-fight interviews or anywhere else. Do not punish the fans who paid good money for tickets / flights to the UAE / and those who bought PPV's. This is exactly why Dana was so pissed. Most of the people who paid money to watch this fight will be discouraged from buying future cards if they know that Silva's gonna be in them. I gave Silva the benefit of the doubt in the Leites fight. But he completely confirmed his status as a questionable performer in my mind. I might not even be that excited for the Belfort or GSP fight now b/c I don't know if I'm gonna see Silva fight or if I'll see him try to win ABDC in the octagon.

by wth on Apr 11, 2010 at 1:38 pm

  74. What are you talking about? He is the king of demolishing knockouts (Frankin, twice; Irvin; Leben; Griffin). This is the UFC, not the nice guys karate club. If you don't want to finish your opponents you are in the wrong business. Enough of this "true martial artist" shit. It's a fight, finish it Silva. These karate fans need to watch a different sport.

  79. no that stupid fighting with 40% isnt showing respect to a fighter..You fight with 100% of your ability that is how u show respect..Fighting at 40% belittles your opponent..You think samurai fought fights at 40%? He didnt even beat Damian Maia, he just won the fight..Real heads knows what that expression means..Not to mention he was showboating throughout the fight..

    by randomguy845 on Apr 12, 2010 at 12:21 am

  80. The fighter qa guard down (arm) to another fighter .. is pq’s giving him the chance to be completed, or be hit. If they do not, its because .. the fighter that low arm, is GOOD FOR FUCKING! AS is the best! The GSP lives struggling to keep your weight w / stand in the middle-middle .. Why he does not challenge the AS since q is much easier for him to raise his weight? I doubt he does not know that he has no chance against AS. FUCK!

by André Queiroz on Apr 11, 2010 at 4:27 pm

  81. Hey Dana White why don't you fight Anderson Silva….. Didnt think so a wins a win hes fighting smart maybe a lil bit to much show boating but he gets it done get over it…

WTF is this, if i wanted to see ppl dance id watch aikido…

by WTFSilva on Apr 12, 2010 at 1:40 am

  83. I dont think Maia did it to be disrespectful.. I dont think Silva took it as a disrespect, either.

by Toronto MT-BJJ on Apr 12, 2010 at 3:27 am

  84. Wow… Silva just proved how much of a disrespectful jig he is. I can't wait jor GSP to show him what happens when you can't jump around like a monkey the whole 5 rounds. What a f*ckin queer!

by God on Apr 12, 2010 at 4:26 am

  85. why was there a chant of gsp???man cppl chanted my name almoust amongst many other names….n trust me im neither a maya or silva…..tho i like gsp dont think he can hold anderson down too long n then again u wana see 5 rounds of gsp on top of silva???? bring on wanderlei n there will be show lol

  87. feeeeeeeeddddddddooooooorrrrrrrr is ALFA AND OMEGA…until someone dethrone him

by babajun on Apr 12, 2010 at 10:27 am

  88. I think Joe Rogan and Mark Goldberg were dead on. Anderson Silva quit. He outclassed Maia for about three rounds and then he just stopped, whether he was tired,or bored, or whatever I dont know. But he quit. He showed the skills to finish Maia in the begining but chose not to for whatever reason. All in all I think this fight and UFC 112 was BORING, really really BORING. That goes for the Hughes vs Gracie and Penn vs. Edgar fights too.

by geeRant on Apr 12, 2010 at 10:47 am

  89. Also all the die hard GSP fans that think this is Anderson Silva's best are in for a rude awakening if and when that fight happens. I think St. Pierre will bring out a much better more driven and dangerous Silva. My only quiestion is how the cut to 170lbs would affect him. I agree with all the comments about how mad of a matchup this was completely. But if the matchup was that bad then why no finish from Silva? just weird.

by geeRant on Apr 12, 2010 at 10:54 am

  90. The fight was boring but if Maia wanted to win the damn belt then he would of tried to win the damn belt. He shouldn't wait for Silva to attack because if Silva attacks you then you are really fucked, but if you attack him then you at least have a better chance.

Silva might of been high as hell during this match but he still was beating Maia. Maia can't blame anyone but himself for losing this match. If he wanted to win the belt then he would of worked on his Muay Thai skills instead of his bitch ass BJJ skills. Anderson is a fucking black belt as well in BJJ under the Nogueira brothers. The BJJ skills would just basically cancel each other out.

All I am saying is Maia is a pussy and he should of worked on his Muay Thai instead of maintaining his BJJ

by MMA D0RK on Apr 12, 2010 at 2:09 pm

  91. To be the Champ you have to Beat the Champ, Clearly Maia couldn't do it

by Kage on Apr 12, 2010 at 3:47 pm

  92. did you say he doesnt try to embarasshis opponents? Bro .. are you on crack? hes makes a complete mockery of his opponents with his show boating, and acting like a monkey dancing around. THIS is UFC not WWF.

Your retarded.. just saying.. I like silva because he is skilled. how he makes a fool of his opponents and his demeanor i do not like. The way he treats and acts in the ring is complete disrespect towards his opponent, his training and his trainers.

by joe on Apr 12, 2010 at 5:36 pm

  93. Everyone needs to relax !!! The real opponent was supposed to be Vitor Belfort But he got injured.

  99. gsp is a fuck bitch and will get his ass handed to him just like maia

by hank on Apr 13, 2010 at 8:33 am

  100. Mr White really doesn’t have Anderson's best interest at heart, he try keeps the fans happy so they continue to buy more tickets which bring in more money, when it doesn’t go his way he slag’s of the fighters!
Anderson has got nothing to prove, he showed us many times he can make the fight to go any path that he chooses and I guess that was his tactic to win by points on the day.
You are just a fan and only understand street brawling, but when you enter the ring with another opponent who is highly trained/experienced, street brawling won’t be sufficient, you need a tactic.
The way Anderson controlled that fight I don’t think any other fighter would be capable of doing that, respect is not an issue during the fight it is how you act and compose yourself after and the before which gains the respect, there is no respect in fighting if you respect someone so much you wouldn’t fight them in the first place!
America killed innocent people in Afghanistan where was the respect (understand).

by Unorthodox on Apr 13, 2010 at 11:39 pm

  101. fuck you all. anderson is the biggest talent ive seen in my whole life. i fight (i'm a fighter), and know waht that means. you guy dont even know what a glove means. shut the fuck up. anderson is the most taletous fight today. without brazilians , UFC is nothing but shitttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt , then, shut up.

by ricoverona on Apr 13, 2010 at 10:09 pm

  102. Whoa (martial fan)That fedor comment shows your lack of knowledge on striking technique. Fedor does have punching power but his boxing is sloppy, and compared 2 Anderson advanced boxing and muy thai skills Fedor is a amatuer. When has Fedor made a guy like forrest griffen like that bad? Fedor got his nose busted by a big slow brawler like brett rogers, what do u think Anderson speed, power and pure technique would do ? Stop comparing a true p4p mma champion, 2 fedor a good fighter who is scared 2 fight the best heavyweights in the world.

by Tony Jaa on Apr 14, 2010 at 3:46 pm

  103. Only the best can get away with the showboating Silva does. He is a guy who has beat the ass of every challenger in the UFC, so far, and they guy is bored. He can walk around the ring, hands down, he can look away, dance around, lay on his back and he can still end a fight whenever he wants, within a matter of seconds.

He is a phenom, a freak, a champion. Guys this good dont come around to often and he will lose eventually, then you can all bag the shit out of him from your keyboards.

But for now enjoy it. No one can touch this guy at the moment and myself being a GSP fan, Im getting nervous about these two meeting in the octagon.

by Matt on Apr 15, 2010 at 2:26 am

  104. Not many Americans here really get it. Dana White is the worst in understanding it. Silva is a GENUINE MMA BJJ fighter! He is the REAL deal! He has TRUE honor for the Martial Arts lineage he comes from and even bows to all of his opponents feet before and after the fight. This is TRUE respect! This is all traditional behavior and done out of respect for the BJJ culture and sport. For you Americans that are ignorant of this then you are excused. But for those of you that have formally trained in some form of Martial Arts, you should know better.

    Part I (Continued)

    by A.Gracee on Apr 15, 2010 at 2:12 pm

  105. Silva was making a blatant statement DIRECTLY to Dana White. He made this same statement when he fought another fellow BJJ fighter and countryman about 4 or 5 fights ago when he pulled almost the same exact thing by dancing around the ring and showboating. He also got plenty of boos then too, and then he apologized afterwards. SAME THING people! You have to understand that Silva DOES NOT LIKE FIGHTING ANY ONE FROM HIS OWN MARTIAL ARTS LINEAGE!!!! That would be like fighting your own little brother and demolishing him or knocking him out cold in front of complete strangers just to please Dana White and all you blood thirsty Americans. If you have read any of the Silva interviews, he even personally states that he will NOT FIGHT certain fellow BJJ countrymen like Machida and others. BJJ is an ART, a MARTIAL ART! UFC is a BLOOD SPORT! If Dana White wants him to continue to fight in the UFC, then he better start paying attention to the CULTURAL VALUES of all his fighters with respect to the country and Martial Arts lineage that they come from.

    Part II (Continued)

by A. Gracee on Apr 15, 2010 at 2:13 pm

  106. What really pisses Silva off is that Dana White did not only match him up against a fellow BJJ countryman out of desperation of cancelling UFC 112 main card, but also the fact that Damian Maia was not even in the same skill level as Silva. Not even close! THIS WAS A COMPLETE INSULT TO BJJ AND MARTIAL ARTS ALTOGETHER!!! This is not like a blood lusting cock fight or dog fight. Dana White has NO respect! He is behaviing like a complete barbaric blood thirsty IDIOT! Please Dana White learn to show SOME RESPECT!!! This is EXACTLY why some fighters like FEDOR and others that have left and have tried to leave the UFC by terminating their contracts early. But Dana likes to think that he owns them and has the last word on EVERYTHING. And since it is backed up in LEGAL INK, Dana White REFUSES to negotiate with anyone.

    Part III (Continued)

by A. Gracee on Apr 15, 2010 at 2:15 pm

  107. I don't know if anyone's mentioned this, but I will anyway just in case.

Anderson Silva and Ed Soares have asked Dana White to vacate the middleweight belt so that he could fight top competition in other weight classes. As you can tell from his last three title defences, he's simply bored of dominating the weakest division in the UFC. Sure Dana will let Silva fight in other weight classes here and there, and when he does Anderson shows up to fight (Irvin and Griffin), but he's basically forcing Silva to defend his belt, and Silva isn't going to throw a fight to get rid of it.

by Bud on Apr 15, 2010 at 4:36 pm

  108. Now Silva has NO PROBLEM when it comes to fighting barbaric MMA American fighters. He has the most utter disdain for many of these types of American fighters that come in the ring against him, and that represents NO other formally trained Martial Arts lineage other than some make shift training camp that they come from. He WILL and HAS demolished these types like the Sand Man, Henderson and others. Dana White! If you want to see a good fight, then you will do EVERYTHING in your power that you feed him only WHITE meat from America!

    Part IV

by A. Gracee on Apr 15, 2010 at 2:16 pm

  109. Great fight by Silva, who displayed the effectiveness of martial arts vs. brawling, which is the typical UFC scenario. A martial artist will defeat a brawler with intelligence and skill. White wants a brawl, not martial arts. White should cut Silva, who is too good for the UFC brawling genre. Way to go Anderson!!!

by Allessio on Apr 16, 2010 at 2:14 am

  110. Hang on just a minute, i agree with you that SIlva is not just another meathead in MMA but come on the only time he showed Maia any respect in that fight was in the first minute of the fight and that was because he didn't know what to expect after that he showed a huge lack of respect to his opponent. and as for the comment as to him being a poster boy for "TRUE" martial arts (and i use that the word true very loosely) i have been studying martial arts for a number of years and i have respect and diginity for my opponents but that is not what Silva showed in that fight all i saw from this fight is that SIlva has not worked hard enough on his conditioning a great MMA fighter needs to be able to keep up the performance that he showed in the first 2 rounds for the whole fight and due to a lack of conditioning Silva could not do that.

As for the showboating being a opportunity for his opponents to recover that is a load of crap. Everyone knows if your opponent is stunned then you take advantage of this weakness and even if he was doing it to give a better fight why did he just give up on all the showboating and do nothing but back off and run in circles for two and a half rounds which ruined a great fight if Maia wasn't up to the task why did he not save him the embarassment .

I am a great fan of Anderson Silva but this performance was as usual great for 2 rounds but then his lack of conditioning became an issue again if Silva wants to go down in history as the greatest MMA fighter of all time he needs to get a new conditiong coach and sort it out.

P.S. as for Dana White i totally agree he needs to shut the fuck up hes just showing himself up as a total prick yet again.

by Gavin on Apr 17, 2010 at 2:47 am

  111. Dang, he could have easily beat this guy in the first round. WTF

by big daddy cool on Apr 17, 2010 at 2:28 am

  112. You are a wise person and speak of wise words.
There is no doubt that Anderson S. made this fight as boring as it has as a protest towards Dana W. against this very bad drawcard.

by TDK on Apr 17, 2010 at 10:50 am

  113. FUCK GSP and Anderson SILVA humiliated Maia !! he gave him every opportunity to fight back. If Maia came at him harder Silva would have finished him. He probably felt bad for him. GSP is shit scared to fight Silva and when greedy ass Dana White who is talking shit obviously about Silva makes that dream match we will see how well that slippery French fuck can smother and manhump Silva

by thundermunkey on Apr 19, 2010 at 1:31 am

  114. I agree. I love watching Silva toy with people.

by FemFan on Apr 19, 2010 at 2:05 am

  115. GSP is not going to teach Anderson anything. GSP will be the one getting schooled.

by FemFan on Apr 19, 2010 at 2:08 am

  116. Honestly I think he just didn't want to humiliate Maia.

by FemFan on Apr 19, 2010 at 2:19 am

  117. True, but Anderson was away for a while so he must have ring rust

by LameDave on Apr 19, 2010 at 3:02 am

  118. We will see how good he does again Chael, a great wrestler himself, if he does as bad as he did against Chael like he did in this fight, then you may start to critique him about how he would do against another wrestler in GSP

by LameDave on Apr 19, 2010 at 3:05 am

  119. Silva isn't a fag for this performance, I would like to see someone like you step in there with ring rust and fight someone coming off of a win, You would get your mother fucking ass whooped, While Silva is showing respect.
After one punch you wouldn't be able to stand up and punch, Wait until he whoops Sonnen and then you wouldn't be talking mad smack about him

by LameDave on Apr 19, 2010 at 3:08 am

  120. You're true in many ways however, Silva had ring rust and never fought in a while, Maia on the other hand, had just came off of a win

by LameDave on Apr 19, 2010 at 3:11 am

  121. There is still Sonnen

by LameDave on Apr 19, 2010 at 3:11 am

  122. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! no way Anderson knows how to use his reach and striking skills, he would destroy Fedor, depending on his gas tank because Fedor has too good of a chin to get knocked out

by LameDave on Apr 19, 2010 at 3:16 am

  123. i 100% agree this guy had no chance wiining if even if silva didnt just show off…and r u guys really serious GSP is not ready for silva thats a billion dollar bet

by lane on Apr 19, 2010 at 5:22 am

  124. someone needs to do a flying scissor heel hook (flying lotus) on Anderson once more to humble him a little.

by purefalcon on Apr 19, 2010 at 11:08 pm

  125. How in the name of all that is holy can you say Silva was respectfull? That he showed the effectiveness of martial arts, that he represented martial arts.

No martial artist would ever stick their chin out and yell at an opponent to "come on come on" while slapping the ground.

The most rediculous thing is that he did this while not advancing on Maia at all. Silva did not attack once, he never initiated contact.

Being great at countering does not make one a great fighter. You Silva nut huggers talk about how he is so great because he is a black belt BJJ and such a great striker? You forgot how great a dancer he is. He should leave UFC and join Dancing with the Stars!

He is nothing more than a very quick and elusive one dimensional counterstriker.

by Guest on Apr 20, 2010 at 5:23 am

  126. Wow! I love these guys that call Anderson Silva a "bitch" or "faggot" posting a comment. I would love to see these guys say it to Silva's face and eat their teeth.

by yellowqueen on Apr 21, 2010 at 6:49 pm

  127. Because GSP didn't (couldn't) finish he guy fuck Canada? Man your brain really is in need ..There was a big diff to those fights ..Sliva should have killed Damia if hes show boating like that…and he didn't..why walk around slaping your chest going come on hit me…if your that tough and great ( which in a way he is) don't wait for the other guy to come and slap your chest go and do your own slaping…hes doing all this stuff but not really going after the guys…GSP was trying…but couldn't. Big diff IMO. and yeah GSP vs Sliva …GSP isn't ready and maybe can't be..sliva walks around at 210 or something..gsp 175…after the catch weigh thing is done sliva puts on like 20-30 pounds after weigh-ins and gsp can't do that…one big problem for gsp..BIG!

    by ricco47 on Apr 25, 2010 at 8:44 am

  128. I think most of you have missed something that is obvious….That is that Silva is afraid of Demian Maia's Jiu Jitsu skills….

by guest on Apr 26, 2010 at 3:13 am

  129. Running from an opponent is actually a foul in UFC (timidity)…and that is definitely what Silva was doing in Rd. 4 and 5. The ref even stopped the fight once and warned Silva….should have probably been a penalty assessed I think!

by guest on Apr 26, 2010 at 3:18 am

  130. unbelievable! i dont think you could even call that a fight, what a disgrace to Silva :( .

by jiujitsu blackbelt on Apr 26, 2010 at 3:49 pm

  131. I can't believe all you guys are faulting Anderson Silva for this. I mean, When is the last time Anderson Silva had a half way decent opponent? If you want to see Anderson Silva really engage, pray that Dana White puts the GSP vs. Silva fight together. Anderson Silva is tired of these "opponents" that are challenging him for his title, and all they do is dance around. Put an apponent in the ring that will actually fight Silva and you will see Silva put them away

by boomgagem on May 1, 2010 at 9:06 pm

  132. You guys are pretty dense.

Dana White put in Maia — a sacrificial lamb — as a substitute for the fighter Silva was originally supposed to fight.

Silva then obviously got pissed that White would just use him as a puppet to still draw in PPV numbers by guaranteeing fans a huge KO.

Silva acts like a clown and doesn't even try to fight to stick it to White.

White has harsh words for Silva post fight in the locker (threatening him to cut him from the UFC).

Silva apologizes at the post conference fight and promises that Silva will fight and deliver his "ballet of violence" he is known for.

In the end, Silva has a huge ego and doesn't like to be a simply marketing tool. I expect him to leave the UFC or MMA altogether after he wins his last relevant fights.

by buddayyy on Aug 5, 2010 at 3:24 am

  135. Are you incompetent? Would you rather have watched Silva knock Maia out in the first 10 seconds? Because it was there, and Silva could have done so at anytime.
