I Called the sub though it wasnt in the round i called. Very close win for the spider. Chael hella suprised me even though some of his ground n pound prior to the championship rounds seemed a bit like he was just going through the motions to not get stood up. Plus it was Josh Rosental who is already an IFFY ref. Josh was almost caught in another controversy even tho Chael did tap maybe they should create a 3 tap rule to make it an offical tap. I was hoping Silva would get things done for the better part of five rounds. He showed big heart, a solid chin, and great BJJ technique to close out the match. Why are so many people saying that Sonnen deserves a rematch? It was a brilliant fight and Silva got his ass handed to him for a majority of the fight, but Sonnen still lost legitimately. If it had ended by cut stoppage or something like that, then fair enough, a rematch would be warranted. But he fought well but lost. Should every high profile fight have a rematch a few months down the line? No.

I agree. While I would like to see them fight again I would prefer to see them fight sometime in the future, but not in an immediate rematch. I would much prefer to see a Silva vs. Belfort fight next. Sonnen did a great job, but he got silly at the end, probably should have played it a bit safer to get the win. But I have tons of respect for Sonnen for NOT playing it safe, the dude kept coming and coming, non-stop. He may talk a lot of shit but he backed it up almost the entire fight. Congrats to Silva for having the heart and the skill to win in the end. Awesome fight, but please, no immediate rematch.

If you looked at the post fight interview, you would see that Silva was dealing with an injury to his rib and the doctor didn't want him to fight, but he still did. He would of ended the fight in the 1st round if his rib wasn't busted. Silva could of did so many armbars and triangles before the 5th round, and if you didn't see how many he could of did, you would be shocked. I feel if Silva was 100%, he would of finished him in the first.

Sonnen is a great wrestler but that is all he is. He doesn't finish anyone on the ground or standing up, and yet again, he didn't finish Silva or even win.

The fight went to the ground several times after Silva got ROCKED on his feet. Sonnen isn't even known as a striker.

You know that for 4 1/2 rounds Silva was on the ground and could not submit Sonnen. 23 minutes and he could not get that submission. If you are right and he wanted to go to the ground then Silva proved it takes him 5 rounds to get a submission against a guy that doesn't even have a JJ belt. That is an embarrassment for Silva.

Anyone that knows BJJ also know that you don't try to get taken down, you clinch and pull guard. Silva NEVER pulled guard from a clinch. Silva never got a decent sub attempt until there was only 119 seconds left.

While Silva may have preferred to get a submission win he did not kick high to try and get taken down, he did not refuse to sprawl, he was simply beaten on his feet in grappling and was not allowed the chance to pull guard.

I believe that Sonnen's hand tapped by accident, it was a single hit and BOTH fighter kept going for a while till they were forced apart. Whether it was a tap or not, Silva got lucky to even be in a position to get the triangle. Sonnen should have hidden behind the ref like Silva did in his last fight.

It's idiotic. That was not all planned by Silva. He had a 119 seconds left. Silva did show the heart of a true champion, but he did it by OVER COMING the beating by Sonnen and in an act of desperation finding a way to win. That was a war between two skilled fighters and the Spider narrowly escaped being squashed.

Every fighter fights injured because they train that hard. Fight doctors, by law, will not let a fighter go into a fight with an injury that substantial and put the fighter at risk, which a broken rib would. He had a bruised rib. Rich Frankln won a knock out victory with a broken wrist, and the list of fighters that are hurt and fight goes on.

But no fighter goes into the ring with a significant injury that would be detected by the fight doctor in the pre-fight examination. Sore ribs is Silvas way of trying to explain why he couldn't use his finishing skills or BJJ to even attempt a sub for 23 minutes against a guy that is "just a wrestler" and has not ju-jitsu belt.

He did not have a broken rib. Every fighter must be examined by a state commissioning fight doctor. If that fight doctor finds the fighter has a substantial injury. like a broken rib, then he can not fight by law.

Anderson had sore ribs. Chael had a black eye from training a few days before the fight. EVERY fighter fights injured because they train so hard.

You can not apply a triangle or arm bar with a broken rib, the pain would make you pass out.

Problem is, Chael never learns his lesson. He did the exact same stupid thing againt Palo Pilho, when Pilho was considered the best Middleweight in MMA. Dominated Pilho for almost two rounds then got submitted because he was too stupid to get out of Pilho's guard. Fool him once, shame on you, fool him twice and it proves hes a fool.
