Anderson and Machida may look like they have similar styles but it’s really different. Machida is more of a play by ear react to the action where as Anderson seems like he sets up his opponents to make certain moves that he already has counters for. Machida’s good at chess but it seems like Anderson dictates his opponents moves controling both sides.

Dont defend the guy dude, just accept the fact that hes no match for the Spider Anderson Silva.
That KO was completely legit. Those people who say that the KO was fake have never actually been in a ring, let alone a fight with anyone who knew what they were doing. Anderson Silva dislocated Forrest Griffin’s jaw early in the match. Griffin took multiple punches to that jaw before going down. He ran from the ring because he needed immediate medical attention; he couldn’t hear from one ear and at the time they thought his jaw was broken.
Fighters talk about a “Sweet Spot” which will knock a fighter out regardless of how tough or good that fighter is. Anderson hit Forrest’s for the entire match and I was surprised Griffin didn’t go down earlier. Silva completely outclassed Griffin, which says less about how bad griffin was and more about how utterly dominant Silva is.

He hasnt faced the bigger stronger guys yet. I think Rampage would take Machida out to be honest. Overall I dont think Machida is keeping that belt long, he has tougher comp coming his way and I dont see him lasting. By the way, I heard forrest couldnt hear out of one ear after the fight. After watching this fight I am confident a good wrestler like St. Pierre could beat Silva! Silva stood straight up and was a good position to be taken down, but Griffin does NOT have the skill for the ground game, so he never went in for the take down. Silva’s loses were by submissions.
I do believe Hendo can beat Silva the next time they face.
I would REALLY like to see Couture move down to 205(again) and face Anderson Silva! Couture has the style to destroy Silva!
Let’s not forget that Machida gets the better of Anderson Silva all the time in sparring. Silva said so himself.

I am confident St. Pierre could beat Anderson Silva! Heck, I would love to see Couture drop to 205(again) just to fight Silva. Couture's style could cause major problems for Silva.
A TRUE grappler(BOTH a submission and wreslter specialist) could beat Anderson Silva. Remember Silva's loses were due to submissions. That is why I like St. Pierre's chances.

August 9th, 2009 at 3:46 pmForrest made the mistake of keeping the fight on the feet. That is the epitome of insanity! There are only two fighters in the world that would have a chance against Anderson in the stand up and that is Lyoto and Fedor. Everybody else has to take it to the ground and see what they can do there. The only times Anderson has lost was when he was either being passive (Chonan – Flying Heel Hook – AS was losing fight up to that point) and/or the fight was taken to the ground (Takase – Triangle). His last two legitimate losses (Okami – DQ) were that way. Hendo and Rashad COULD both take the fight into the middle rounds and win a one or two of them by using their wrestling prowess, but Anderson would still win.
August 9th, 2009 at 4:02 pmOn a side note, I would much rather see Hendo fight Vitor for the right to be Anderson’s next opponent at 185. Overall, any challenger at 185 needs to put up multiple wins over top opponents before being considered for a title shot. Even more so than in other divisions. Anderson needs to fight the top guys in 205. Although there really isn’t anybody available at 205 that would pose a major challenge.
His next fight should be against the winner of Belfort and Hendo, then the winner of a four fighter tournament consisting of: Marquart/Maia and Okami/Sonnen. Once he wins those fights he should fight either the 205 champ or RJ jr. What is going to happen at 205 is that once Lyoto beats Shogun and the winner of Rampage/Rashad there won’t be anybody for him to fight (assuming and hoping he does win both). The only other guy is still a few years away (Jon Jones).
The question will be what fight is going to be in higher demand come next summer – Anderson vs. Lyoto or Fedor vs. Brock.

1. Why would the UFC put Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida and Georges St-Pierre against each other? Maybe 5 years from now, but not anytime soon. Just take a look at Silva. Never been beat in the UFC. Take a look at Machida. Never lost a fight. Put them against each other and someone has to lose. Bad for business. Look what happenend to BJ. He went up in weight class to fight GSP, lost miserably and it had everyone saying Penn is no good anymore. People want to believe certain fighters are unbeatable, that’s sells tickets.
2. I saw someone making a smart ass remark about Brock Lesnar and the WWE. I completely agree that Brock shouldn’t have gotten a title shot so soon in his career, but not because he’s a former wrestler, but because he’s new in the world of MMA. That being said, I think MMA fans are giving Professional Wrestling too much crap. You can’t compare it to an actual fighting sport. It’s not. It’s Performance Art. It’s entertainment. It’s alot of things. It’s a world in itself. And just because someone makes the choice to become a Pro Wrestler, doesn’t mean he’s not a tough guy. It’s just another way to make a living. And a really fun way at that. And it also forces giants like Brock Lesnar to be extremely flexible and agile. Just take a look at Brock Lesnar doing a Shooting Star Press. He can move his body in ways, that nobody his size should be able to do. He’s a GREAT athlete and he will dominate the Heavyweight Division. I hope Kurt Angle (former Olympic Gold Medalist) comes over to the UFC. Another great Pro Wrestler who could seriously clean out a roster.

Not to take anything away from Silva but I’ve seen Griffin take a lot harder shots than that without going down. Griffin’s fight against Jackson is a case in point. This wasn’t even a fight. Silva’s knockout punch was nothing more than a jab thrown out there as he was backing up. It reminded me of some of the fixes I’ve seen in the boxing world over the years. Only Griffin, and maybe a few insiders, know the real reason the fight ended like this. But this fight has a funny smell to it!

Machida becacuse he's undefeated which is huge for confidence in championship fights. Machida also is the only fighter in UFC that fights smart like Anderson. Rampage puts fear in fighters heart. He's quick and has true KO power. GSP, is well rounded and can hang with any fighter in the octagon. Really I think GSP and BJ would give Anderson great fights. But Anderson's size and skill with tired them down in late in the fight. Lesner is a heavyweight so that's a no go lol. With that being said I think Anderson will be the fighter to hold the middle and light heavy titles at the same time.

Machida has never tasted defeat and that’s huge in championship fights. Also, Machida is probaley the smartest fighter other than Anderson. GSP can’t beat Silva because Silva is too big. BJ also is too little. And, Lesner is a heavyweight so that’s a no go. Even though I think GSP and BJ would be great fights with Anderson size and Silva’s skill, would tire them down in championship rounds (4&5). In the middle/lightheavyweight, I think Machida has the best chance and maybe Rampage. I like Rampage. I think Rampage could have a outside chance because he is quick and has true KO power. I say Machida, Rampage, and GSP are my top 3 best fighters to beat Silva. With that being said, I think Silva will be the first UFC fighter to hold the Middle/LightHeavyweight titles at the same time.

December 27th, 2009 at 12:04 pmTHIS WAS A FIXED FIGHT, ive trained in martial arts my entire life, teach mauy thai, and have many friends that fight mma. griffin threw the fight, i dont think silva knew about it but it definatly happened, 1. the "knockout punch" was landed just left of his nose, no way dislocated jaw, 2, nothin he did in this fight was charicteristic of his other fights, 3 after being "knocked down" which these guys are trained to handle would u have the presence of mind to instantly run out of the ring without any in-ring medical attention. the punch was a BACKWARD STEPPING LOOSE JAB. these fighters dont just go down that easy, or imediatly stand up and bolt out of the ring without getting checked out, it just dosnt work that way.
