Well Pasquale, that pretty much sucks. Who knew these upsets were going to happen? lol That hook that dropped Franklin looked weird.

well c’mon, Franklin wasn’t a bad bet. He’s been scrappy against tons of get strikers and sub-masters that’re supposed to be better than him, and usually finds a way to be competitive, if not win.
But if you bet on Cro Cop you should have know you were betting on a long shot. I love CC back in his prime but its pretty obvious he hasn’t been the same. that was hardly an upset. no serious betters thought Cro Cop was going to beat Dos Santos. frankly he was facing a younger, bigger, stronger, hungrier version of himself; and the changing of the guard emphatically occurred.

A bit disappointed Rich went down without putting up a good fight. Belfort has too much power and to be honest, Rich is very chinny since he lost to Anderson Silva.

What an ignoramus statement from a compulsive “RETARD” who can’t accept that Belfort is just too hard of a puncher for Franklin. Anyone who would believe that the largest MMA promotion in the world and the center of the MMA universe, not to mention a multi million dollar company (soon to be a billion), would remotely come close to thinking that they would have to pay off a fighter to take a dive just so it could find an “OPPONENT” for Silva, is just beyond ignorant. God forbid they would allow Silva to fight someone at light heavy.

Yup, that was a brilliantly stupid statement!!!! Paying Henderson to take a dive against Bisping would’ve made more sense because it would’ve yielded a much bigger gate in the UK.

So yes, that’s what the UFC would want to risk in just trying to set up a fight with Silva, because bringing the MMA into mainstream and making it the fastest growing sport in the world isn’t enough for Dana and the crew. Let’s risk it all to bring Silva another fight by paying off Franklin.

You’re the very 1st person to post to this link and you’re telling me that after dropping 15k, your first instinct was to let everyone on MMA-Hits know what you did. Everyone is different, but people who have that kind of money, (imho) would have other important things to do or parties to attend to. But that’s just my opinion.

@PRE-EMPTIVE STRIKE – Okay. That ‘lucrative brasilian audience’ comment was wayward. I stand corrected. But watch the fight if you can. I don’t know (if it is indeed true) why the fight would have been thrown and can only speculate. Minotauro was heralded as a big name acquisition. His subsequent fights have been large audience draws. He has been a trainer on the TUF show. If he had lost on his very first (as he did, again watch the fight) it may have been embarassing to the UFC (see Mr.White) and affected his potential audience draw. I am a fan of the UFC.

@Johnny – Please read my last comments, because if you don’t understand them, then everything else is pointless! I’m not going to watch the fight again, that too would be pointless, especially since you can’t even offer any type of inanely laughable evidence.

Their were plenty of big names that came from Pride, ie Rampage, Wanderlei, Shogun, Cro Cop, and yes Minotauro. The biggest one being Shogun, who was widely considered the best 205 pounder on the planet. That’s why Dana told Forrest to take a dive in that fight also, because he would be horrifically embarrassed if Rua would have lost his UFC debut after all the hype behind him.

Once again and hopefully once and for all, the UFC has “ZERO” to gain and “EVERYTHING” to lose by even thinking of doing such an overt criminal act such as fixing a fight.

Should any of their superstars (new or old) happen to lose a fight, debut or otherwise, guess what, a new superstar will arise. Everyone will want to know and see this fighter who just upset one of the biggest names in MMA.

Hopefully this well clear up any other unfounded theories that you may have.

@Pasquale – Sucks the main page of this site spoiled this fight with the Dana interview about Vitor. I should of known better than to read the comments cause you spoiled the Cro Cop fight too. If you really bet $10,000 you’re a crazy bastard. I had $100 on Vitor! Hope he puts Anderson to sleep can’t wait for that fight.

I knew Belfort was gonna knock him out…..Belfort has been in this game way too long Franklin’s good but he cant hang with Vitor…..yea baby hes back!!

The Brazilians are finally showing up. Besides Anderson, that is. Two of the top 4 fighters in each of the three big weight classes in the UFC are Brazilian. Minotoro and Cigano at HW. Lyoto and Shogun at LHW and Anderson and Vitor at MW.

That’s got me thinking. This will never happen, but what if there was a US vs. Brazil tourney in these three weight classes. At MW there would be Anderson and Vitor vs Hendo and Nate the Great. At LHW there would be Lyoto and Shogun vs Rampage and Rashad. At HW there would be Brock and Carwin vs Minotoro and Cigano.

Brazil would definitely win MW and LHW, but I’m not sure about HW.

Where are the Brazilians in the smaller weight classes? Outside of Alves I can’t think of any top WW or LW Brazilains. What’s the deal?

I guess these guys who are saying the fight was rigged are taking issue with the grazing right that Belfort threw just before Franklin went down. That wasn’t the punch that knocked him out though. Here is what happened:

After the grazing right, Belfort fell onto Franklin and Franklin stumbled and got pushed down onto all fours. With Franklin underneath him on all fours Belfort hooked a smashing left into his jaw. THIS WAS THE TKO PUNCH. Then he started wailing him while he was stunned and they called the fight.

@asdf – If you’re going to reply to someone, why don’t you use what little grey matter that you might possess and elaborate to whom and what subject that you’re referring to.

That way I can attempt to produce a comprehensible answer to someone who’s clearly been bestowed with what one might consider an underdeveloped mental wit.

I think Franklin is going to fall into the “stepping stone” category, why he isn’t improving as a fighter is a mystery to me.
