Anderson Silva’s manager has some words for Sonnen
“Chael keeps talking about Anderson wearing earrings and pink T-shirts and country music hoedowns,” Soares said jokingly, proving two can play the trash talk game. “I think the guy wants to star in the next ‘Brokeback Mountain.’
“I’m not saying he doesn’t deserve a title shot,” Soares said. “He is a tough guy and he just beat a very good Nate Marquardt. He fought really well.”
However, Soares does find some fault with Sonnen’s resume.
“He just got submitted by Demian Maia and he really isn’t the most exciting fighter,” Soares said. “The only way Chael Sonnen’s fights end early is when he gets submitted.”
“We just want to be involved in the biggest fights possible,” Soares said, “and would a fight with Chael Sonnen be a big fight? Not really.”
That is not to say the Silva camp will try to block the fight, though. Soares also scoffed at detractors who state he is shielding Silva from any tough competition.
“This has absolutely nothing to do with protecting Anderson,” Soares said. “We will fight Sonnen if that is what the UFC wants, but, like I said, we just want to be in the biggest fights we can get.”
(Black House chief Ed Soares, the manager for UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, told Sherdog.com)

True That!
February 10th, 2010 at 6:02 pmI dont give two shits to see sonnen lose to Silva. But you also have to look at getting a title shot because he's earned it? I don't think he's earned shit but if he's considered the next contender, then exciting or not he's next in line. I say if Silva wants to be in the biggest fights, then he should drop the belt and just go around kickin ass and taking names. Being a champion has the curse of always being challenged, not going out and challenging. IN MY FUCKIN OPINION.
February 10th, 2010 at 6:35 pmBull Shit is They wanted big fights, now that GSP is getting bigger he would try to promote that, or he woulda asked GSP to get bigger before. Gsp is getting bigger to compete with the bigger 170 guys, but he is getting big enough to fight Anderson eventually for a catch weight at least, so He is protecting Anderson. I think that's not right cuz Anderson is good, he's not the same as GSP but is dominant in his striking, it would be a great fight!
February 10th, 2010 at 6:57 pmNothing but the true! Chael talks like a bitch and Anderson will shut him up! He wouldnt make 1 round with Anderson!
February 10th, 2010 at 8:41 pmWell put, you posted my thoughts almost word for word.

February 11th, 2010 at 4:15 amSonnen didn't earn a shot? Didn't he beat the number 2 middle weight in the world 30-27?
February 11th, 2010 at 6:42 amDoes this article satisfy my earlier comments about Silva's future?!
February 11th, 2010 at 7:35 amJESUS CHRIST, 1 sub par guy starts talking sh*t on how easy it is to beat Anderson Silva, now all of a sudden, Anderson's manager is protecting him against tough competition. This type of crap just infuriates me, Chael would get the ever living sh*t kicked out of him if they were to fight. I applaud Chael for going in and handling his business with Marquardt, but just because he says Silva is not as good as people think, doesn't make him anymore a worthy opponent. I truly believe that Sonnen believes his own hype, but it's just so asinine that anyone would think Anderson is dodging him.
Just like I said a few articles back, just look at who Sonnen has beaten and who he's lost against, his record isn't exactly filled with top 10 fighters. Sonnen has been fighting in the shadows and he's smart enough to know how to get himself into the headlines. SO F*ING ANNOYING
February 11th, 2010 at 7:49 amHow do you figure GSP is getting bigger, he's fought at 170 his whole career. Besides, while you think Anderson should campaign for the GSP fight, why don't you ask GSP to campaign for a Silva fight. Everyone has talked about that possible matchup except St. Pierre. Anderson is just to too much for GSP, not to say GSP wouldn't fair ok, but to jump up in weight to fight someone who easily floats between mw and lhw wouldn't be a good matchup.
Not that it really matters, as soon as Silva thoroughly dominated and humiliated Forrest, Dana scrapped the Silva/GSP fight immediately and wisely. Nobody is even calling for this fight any longer because it just no longer makes sense, except if GSP really wants to test himself.
February 11th, 2010 at 8:20 amI wish people would stop putting fighters on a pedistil. Silva is not invincable, we all thought sonnen had no chance agianst Markquart. He very well may lose his belt before this fight happens.
February 11th, 2010 at 4:14 pmNo one cares what you think or say PSE.

February 11th, 2010 at 8:45 pmWho cares? Let's see Silva fight Belfort first, then we'll figure out who the next contender for that winner is.
