Nate is such a cool and classy guy, I don't think the outcome with Silva is going to be any different with the exceptions of he'll make it more competitive. His ko of Maia was a 1 fight 1 hit wonder, but he seems to have gotten better and much more confident, he'll make a great champion when Silva permanently moves up to lhw.

Hope the up in confidence helps, but he is not a completely different fighter.

February 2nd, 2010 at 3:47 amWhere are you getting your information? I see Silva retiring before he moves u to LHW permanently. If he has 5 more fights in him I will be suprised. He will try to hold 2 titles at the same time in the near future and I think that will be the end of his career. He has his hands full in the next 2 MW fights, and I bet either Nate or Belfort give him a piece of humble pie. I like Silva but this lay off might be brutal for him, only time will tell. I believe if he loses before holding both title that means retirement.
February 3rd, 2010 at 6:16 pmEd Soares, Silva's manager and representative has said in numerous interviews (a few are on this site) that Anderson is only interested in fighting in the biggest fights possible, including fights at "HEAVYWEIGHT". So when you take the process of elimination and look at any mega fights at mw, and the fact that he wants to fight a heavyweight or two, as well as his impending retirement, that pretty much spells out his last 3 or 4 fights will be above mw. Of course, Dana doesn't want him taking on any hw's until he dominates at lhw.
My information comes from Anderson and his manager, so I feel pretty comfortable with my resources. Also, if he gets past Belfort (I think he will), who obviously has a punchers chance, then I would gladly bet you that he'll dominate Marquardt once again if that fight does indeed happen. Layoffs are never good, especially when you fight at such an elite level, but with Belfort fight at mw for the 1st time and not even making weight for his Franlkin fight, I think things will be pretty even as for as advantages and disadvantages of layoffs vs 1st time fight at mw.
February 3rd, 2010 at 8:23 pmto be honest when silva decides to step up his whole game, cause now he seems relaxed, who can actually challenge the guy?
