Randy Couture Vs. Brandon Vera Possible For UFC 105

The Sun is reporting that Randy Couture could take on Brandon Vera as the main event for UFC 105. Couture would be dropping down to light heavyweight for the bout which takes place from the Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, England, on November 14.
According to the report UFC sources have confirmed the fight, and also pointed out that Rashad Evans initially turned down the fight against Couture. So far the official main event is between Michael Bisping and Denis Kang, and the show will air for free on Spike TV with a time delay. We’ll bring more info on the fight as it becomes available.

September 14th, 2009 at 10:56 amyeah I dont think vera has a chance. Randy just fought brock at 280, nog at 230 and now he is going to fight vera at 205. Vera has not looked good at all at 205, he beat reese andy in a very boring decision, he lost to Jardene and he beat krystoph in another boring decision.
September 14th, 2009 at 12:25 pmI’m a pretty big fan of Vera’s and I was trying think of a way that he could win this fight, but dammit, I just don’t see it happening!!!! While youth and quickness is on his side, sooner or later Randy is going to get a hold of him and will most likely pound out a decision. You have to give Vera a pardon with his fight against Reese Andy, simply because it was his first go around at 205, but as for his subsequent fights, I have no idea what happened to that guy who was so leathal and dynamic at heavyweight. He seems to have lost power and certainly momentum since dropping down.
Of course, you can’t completely count out Vera, I still believe he has it in him to make a big statement and becoming a force in the division. However, unless he beats Randy by devastating fashion (strikes or submission), it’ll be more of a question as to whether or not Randy was old, as opposed to how great Vera was.
The bottom line is that Vera has to win this fight!!!!
