“After that (Rogers) loss, I just kept training and training, and in November of 2009, I met with Greg Jackson and started training with him,” Arlovski said of the legendary Albuquerque-based fight strategist. “I came back and trained in (my hometown of) Chicago and then started working with Bob Cook and the guys at [American Kickboxing Academy] and then went back to Chicago. So I’ve had a lot of experience with different trainers.”
“Everything happens for a reason, and I’m more disciplined now. I’m definitely going to stick to my game plan. No more putting my hands down like I did against Rogers. I just can’t lose again. It’s very dramatic for me to lose fights, and I want to climb back into the top. It’s going to be a very tough and important fight for me.”
“[Silva] is very dangerous on the ground,” Arlovski said. “That’s why I have spent a lot of time here in Chicago with some big, heavy guys training a lot on the ground. He’s an all-around fighter. His striking is good. He’s good on the ground. He has long arms. He’s really dangerous.”

All the training in the world won't make up for a glass jaw. I'll give it to Arlovski he's a skilled fight with a ton of experience but the problem with him is and always has been is inability to take a shot. So he best hope that Silva doesn't hit him with any clean punches which Silva does on a regular (69.23% KO's in his fights). Arlovski's day's of beating up on no body's like when he was UFC champion are over. Maybe he has one or two good fights in him but a champion at this wt. class is just out of his reach.
May 3rd, 2010 at 4:19 pmmaybe so. dos santo is fast.
May 3rd, 2010 at 8:22 pmbig foot is serious shit. big foot would probably take dos santos??? arlovsky may be ready.. but not for big foot.
May 3rd, 2010 at 6:21 pmWow! Slow down girl, it is girl right? Anyway Dos Santos is way faster the Silva and I think he would just be to fast for the big guy to hit but you never really know in this sport we all love.
May 3rd, 2010 at 6:33 pmArlovsky, much like Tim Sylvia, has 9 lives in MMA because he's a former UFC hw champion, and is still fairly young. While he absolutely cannot lose this fight if he wants to be ever considered to be a top 10 fighter again, he can still get decent employment because he was a former title holder. He has excellent well rounded skills, but that glass jaw is a huge problem, especially in the hw division. He was seriously taking it to Fedor before the infamous flying knee and that shows he can still be relevant if he remains focused throughout. I still think he can beat Fedor because Fedor isn't the most accurate striker, just more of punches in bunches style of stand up. The only thing that prohibits Arlovsky from performing at his best, is the possibility of getting cracked in the jaw.
I'm pulling for the Pitbull.
