If you’ve been keeping your ear to the ground like any hardcore mixed martial arts fan is want to do, you’ll no doubt have heard about just how big UFC 217 is shaping up to be, and if you haven’t, well then have we got some news for you! The UFC will be returning to New York City on November 4th for UFC 217, and the promotion has an absolutely stacked card lined up, or so we’ve been told.
For years fans have wondered if George “Rush” St-Pierre, arguably the greatest welterweight of all time, will make a return to the octagon. After taking a break from the cage in late 2013, St-Pierre has been living it up in his everyday life. Now the fire that seems to burn inside of every great fighter looks to have been re-ignited, and after four long years, the former welterweight king will be looking to make his return to the octagon against middleweight champion Michael Bisping. Having just officially signed his bout agreement after months of back and forth with the UFC, fans can now look forward to seeing one of the most talented fighters ever back in action.
Another fantastic addition to the card is in the bantamweight division, with champion Cody Garbrandt finally getting a chance to face off with his former team mate (and former bantamweight champ) T.J. Dillashaw. The two men had originally been slated to fight in early July, but the bout was scrapped due to injury.
Now the bout is supposedly back on according to a post on Garbrandt’s Instagram page, and whilst UFC officials have not confirmed the news yet, we bet that this will be one of the best fights of the year. With a huge amount of animosity built between the two men during their time as opposing coaches on Season 25 of the UFC’s “The Ultimate Fighter” TV show, fans can probably expect to see a huge amount of trash talk in the lead up to the fight.

The UFC has also lined up one more stellar title fight for the card, with standout strawweight Rose Namajunas taking on champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Joanna “Champion” as she’s known by fans is currently undefeated with a blistering record of 14-0, having taken out every woman who has ever stood in front of her. The twenty-nine-year-old will look to extend her dominance over the division with a victory over Namajunas who is just twenty-five years of age.
Rumours have also cropped up that lightweight contenders Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov may have been slated to fight on the card. While it’s currently uncertain as to whether Nurmagomedov has accepted or turned down the bout, there is no doubt that this could turn out to be one of the standout matchups on the already stacked main card.

“Tony is full of sh*t,” said Nurmagomedov’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz. “We accepted the fight [and] never turned down MSG [Madison Square Garden]. He’s looking for an easy way out. He wants to fight someone else.”
What fight are you most looking forward to on the card? This is set to be one of the biggest events the UFC has put on in a long time, with three stellar championship match ups on offer. Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
